[Pulse] Seoul Semiconductor, Seoul City partner up to boost tunnel safety |
---|
South Korea’s Seoul Semiconductor is stepping up efforts to improve tunnel and underpass safety across the capital by deploying its advanced LED lighting solutions. The company announced on Sunday that it signed a “Standard Safety Design Agreement” with the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Under the deal, Seoul Semiconductor will supply high-visibility LED lights with yellow-green wavelengths designed for emergency scenarios such as fires and blackouts. These innovative LEDs will be initially installed in three locations - Hongjimun, Jeongneung, and Guryong tunnels - before being expanded to other tunnel and underpass projects that are under construction in Seoul. “The increasing number of tunnel and underpass facilities in the city highlights the growing importance of citizen safety,” Choi In-kyu, Director of Design Policy at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said. A company official said that the LED solution is meaningful in that it directly contributes to public safety, and the company plans to expand the system nationwide in cooperation with other municipalities. Seoul Semiconductor ranks third globally and first in Korea in the LED sector. It holds over 18, 000 patents, including that for micro LED technology like “No Wire WICOP.” It is also the global leader in backlight LED market share. By Lee Yun-sik and Minu Kim |
