Daewoo Engineering & Construction has officially launched the Daewoo Smart Construction Alliance to lead technological innovation and strengthen collaboration in the construction industry.

The launch ceremony was held on March 18 at the company’s Euljiro headquarters in Seoul, with executives and employees in attendance to share strategies and discuss future directions for smart construction.

The Daewoo Smart Construction Alliance aims to enable real-time sharing of smart construction technologies across the company’s housing, building, civil engineering and plant divisions. Through this initiative, Daewoo E&C plans to expand and advance the adoption of key technologies such as AI, Building Information Modeling, Off-Site Construction, drones and smart safety management to maximize productivity and efficiency.

The construction giant is actively integrating AI into contract analysis and communication workflows. Its proprietary BaroDAP AI system compares new project contracts with previous ones to improve risk management and review efficiency. Meanwhile, Baro Letter AI, launched in April 2024, helps generate multilingual email drafts and is used over 1,000 times per week across domestic and international sites.

Daewoo E&C is also implementing Q-Box, a paperless platform developed under a national R&D project. The system digitally integrates and manages all site-related documents — including drawings, budgets and schedules — and is currently deployed at five construction sites, with plans for further expansion.

With the alliance in place, Daewoo E&C will focus on data-driven design and construction management using BIM, real-time safety monitoring through AI and the Internet of Things, and wider use of OSC technology to boost productivity. The company plans to systematically manage its Smart Construction Corporation Index and respond flexibly to evolving domestic and global tech trends.

“The Daewoo Smart Construction Alliance will serve as a foundation for real technological innovation," a company representative stated. "Through continued R&D and collaboration, we aim to build a smart construction ecosystem and take a leading role in both domestic and global markets.”

This initiative is part of Daewoo E&C’s long-term digital transformation strategy, with smart construction positioned as a core growth engine to strengthen its global competitiveness and drive future innovation in the industry.
